It is often seen that applicants are asked several personal questions about hobbies, marital status and other things during their interview. Some people consider this information useful, however, others oppose it. I believe that it gives the employer an insight into the nature of the applicant so it is useful.

It is irrefutable that an employer has to understand an employee before he makes any agreement with him or her. To explain, every kind of job requires a certain kind of skills, qualification, mindset and it is the responsibility of an employer to fit the best employee for a job post. To do this, the employer has to ask several either job-related or personal questions to employees which help job providers to understand an employee in a better way. If it doesn't happen, an employer is likely to hire an unsuitable person for a job. For example, with the help of these questions, an employer can come to know that a person is violent in nature and has aggressive nature so he is not suitable for a peaceful workstation.

On the other hand, it can also not be denied that there is a lack of job opportunities in many nations so people often provide false or profitable information to the employer. All this has been done to secure a job. Also, it doesn't make sense that people may give accurate information without caring about their job interview. In India, sometimes people pretend to be bachelors to make a point that they can give more time to the organization as compared to married individuals. Therefore, the opposition believes that information given by individuals during interviews is not useful.

To sum it up, I believe that personal information is useful for the employer because in most cases it is a very important indicator of a person’s personality and his comfort level with a job. Therefore it is understandable why employers ask for this. However, there is a small risk that Employees can present misleading information so it should be checked before recruiting someone.
